How to Book a Family Photoshoot in Nosara

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to booking your dream family session in Nosara.

Step 1: Reach Out to Book

The first step is easy—get in touch! You can contact me here to share a little about your travel dates, family size, and the kind of images you're hoping to capture.

Once we confirm availability, I get know your family vibe (playful and barefoot? classic and posed? something in between?). From there, we lock in your date with a signed contract and a 100% deposit is required to book and hold the slot! 50% Refundable if trip is cancelled within 30 days.

Step 2: Choose the Right Timing & Location

The golden hour in Nosara is unbeatable—think soft light, warm tones, and gentle shadows. For the best natural light, we typically shoot in the very early hours or the perfect afternoon time before the sunset.

Nosara offers stunning location options:

  • Playa Guiones for a mix of beach and jungle

  • Playa Pelada for tide pools and dramatic rocks

  • Your villa or Airbnb for intimate, home-based photos

  • Jungle paths and secret spots for lush greenery and secret views

We’ll choose the perfect backdrop based on your style, schedule, and the age of your kids.

Step 3: What to Wear (and Bring)

Coordinated but not matchy-matchy is the name of the game. Think soft neutrals, earthy tones, or ocean-inspired blues and whites. Lightweight, breathable fabrics work best in Nosara’s tropical heat.

Outfit tips:

  • Avoid logos or busy patterns

  • Bring a second outfit for variety (optional)

  • Accessories like hats or wraps add texture

Optional props:

  • A favourite toy or blanket

  • A beach picnic setup

  • Surfboards or beach gear if that’s part of your story

Step 4: What to Expect During the Shoot

Your family photoshoot will be relaxed, fun, and tailored to your kids’ energy. We keep things moving, play games, and pause when needed for snacks or snuggles.

We usually shoot for about 45 minutes for a mini session to 1 hour. You’ll get a mix of:

  • Candid moments

  • Lightly posed group shots

  • Close-ups of connection

  • Kids being wild and wonderful

  • Fun details and silly faces!

You don’t need to practice or prep—just show up ready to be yourselves.

Step 5: Preparing the Kids

Travel can throw routines off, so we always recommend:

  • Booking your shoot on a non-travel day

  • Having snacks, water, and a comfort item on hand

  • Letting your kids know it’s about playing, not performing

If your little one needs a break mid-shoot, no problem. We build in time to reset, regroup, and keep things lighthearted.

Step 6: Image Delivery & Final Gallery

You’ll receive your fully edited gallery within 1 month, delivered in a private online gallery where you can download high-res images, share with family, and order prints if desired!
